So, by now you probably know Generation Beauty 2016 is near. This event is a makeup lovers dream. There are 31 confirmed brands and LOTS of YouTubers that will be there this year. That's a lot of beauty in one place.
If you have been before, you know how it all works. If not, you might be getting a little panicky trying to find out what to expect. So here are some things to know before you go.
1. Location
Generation Beauty is held at L.A. Live, on the event deck, in a huge, air conditioned "tent". It is not hard to find because there are plenty of signs to point the way.
That is the "line" behind me
2. Parking
If you park in the parking structure, you will have to pay to park. Not many places in L.A. to get around this. I believe the parking was around $10-$12 for each day. So bring cash and prepare to pay for a parking space.
3. Arrival
Day 1 you will need to check in, get your tickets for booths and your name tag. This only takes a couple minutes. However, if you want to experience the craziness that is a gigantic, winding line that stays put for an hour+ or just really want to hit a certain brand booth before everyone else, get there early as there are LOTS of people.
*we didn't arrive on day 1 until about 20 before the doors opened and the line was insane. In addition, it didn't really make a difference at all. On Day 2, we arrived 10 minutes after the doors opened, walked right in and it was actually better that way.
The magic tickets that get all the goodies!
4. Dress for your comfort level
You will spend most of both days in line at brand booths. Keep that in mind when choosing clothing and shoes.
*We opted for wedges on day 1 and our poor feet basically forced us into flats for day 2.
5. Food
There are food trucks on site to purchase food throughout the day.
*We bought food but the lines were incredibly slow moving and caused us to miss valuable time enjoying the event. This year we will be bringing food with us for healthier options and less waiting.
6. Restrooms
There are portable potty trailers. Not glamorous in the least but it's better than nothing.
7. Recommended to bring
Best girl friends- Because what event isn't more fun with your favorite sidekicks? Since you will be waiting in lines a lot, it is wonderful to have some good friends there to keep you company.
Check out the crowd once inside
best manners and patience- the lines are long but bring your smile and chat up other makeup junkies. You never know what kind of connections you will make. Remember, the people who organized the event worked really hard and are constantly trying to better the experience for everyone. Though, we had some minor issues last year, being polite will get you far.
water- to stay hydrated. This is not as big a deal this year being in January but still good to have.
cell phone/camera- there are tons of photo ops and brand contests that will require posting or photographing so make sure and bring a camera and your phone.
charger/power bank- if you are like us, you will likely be taking tons of photos, videos and posting on social media. There are charging stations available to recharge your devices but if you don't want to be stuck there, plan to bring a portable charger.
business cards- if you are a blogger/YouTuber, there are lots of chances to network with brands and other content creators so make sure and have your contact info. easily accessible.
