I just decided a few days ago that I wanted to change my hair. Though I loved it the way it was, it was grown out so you could see my roots and after awhile it starts to look that "Dirty blonde" color which happens to be my natural hair color that I have hated ever since I was a kid. Do you think maybe that's because it was always described as "dirty" or "dishwater"? Either way, it always looks mucky and dull and I hate it. Since my best friend is the one who always does my highlights for me and she lives in California, I had to resort to boxed hair color for the time-being.
See what I mean? "Dirty Blonde" before
I have been feeling experimental and adventurous lately. Where my hair is concerned I tend to get bored quickly so it is always changing whether it be color, style, cut, etc. I spent a couple days deciding what to do. I debated between blonde, red, dark reddish brown, or dark brown.
My first attempt was a disaster! I should know better, by now, than to do a full head blonde out of a box. I just thought, it was pretty blonde with dirty blonde so it should be fine! Wrong, I was. I ended up with brightened highlights but the rest was a color I just couldn't live with longer than 24 hours.
Back to square one I went. I finally decided I wanted to go red. When it comes to hair, I am extremely picky and I get nervous when choosing a shade because it rarely (even when going to a professional) comes out how I want it or how it is advertised. I chose to go with a hair color by John Frieda called Precision Foam Hair Colour. The color I chose, rather, my husband chose (yes, I put this serious decision in his hands. I told you I was feeling adventurous.) was number 6R Light Red Brown.
Here are the contents of the John Frieda Precision Foam Hair Colour box
In the box:
-Bottle with developer already added (step 1)
- hair color to add (step 2)
-Pump attachment for bottle
-Gloves (love that they're black, I don't know why)
-After color conditioner (a very generous size that will last at least a few washes)
-Detailed, color Instruction booklet
This was not the first time I have used the John Frieda Precision Foam Hair Colour so that should tell you that I like it. Foaming hair color is a new trend in hair color that I am loving. Using the foam gives me more control and the color seems to penetrate my hair more evenly.
Coloring your hair with a foam hair color is a bit different than using the traditional cream hair colors. The first thing is that you add the color to the developer and instead of shaking to mix, you TILT the bottle back and forth five times.
To apply to your hair, squeeze the bottle to dispense the color foam into your hand rather than directly onto your hair. The thickness of the foam kind of reminds me of the foam on top of a cappuccino. After dispensing the foam onto your gloved hand, apply it to your roots along your part.
Section your hair along different spots to get all of your roots on a once over. Then apply foam to the rest of your hair and massage in the way you would if you were shampooing your hair.
You know you have enough coverage if you can still see visible foam when you are done.
I have heard other people say that the foam is messier than cream color but I disagree. I had no problem with the foam dripping or splattering at all.
Here is my final result!
Kind of reminds me of Pamela Moran from Army Wives!
Moving on, It covered really well and I didn't see spots that the color failed to cover. Yay!
I am in love with this color and I think John Frieda Precision Foam Hair Colour is a great product.
Love it! I have used this before and I love it. It is much cleaner than regular hair color. I love that color on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I absolutely love this color! I wasn't sure before I did it but now I'm in love. I agree about it being less messy.
