7 Beauty Favorites for May

I have been trying out tons of new beauty products lately and have pulled  seven of my absolute
Favorites for the month of May! In no particular order, here they are.

1. Simple Skincare Micellar Cleansing Water- Price: $5.97 at Walmart

I got my first bottle for testing purposes and  wasn't quite sure of the concept. It is said that, "Micellar Water is a perfect blend of multi-vitamins, skin loving ingredients and gentle cleansers to cleanse the skin while removing make-up. Skin is left feeling clean & hydrated." All you do is wipe it on your face using a cotton ball or pad. No scrubbing, no rinsing. I was skeptical but started using it on busy mornings and I fell in love! I have repurchased it since.

2. Sun Laboratories Ultra Dark Self Tanning Lotion- Price: Varies

I have spent YEARS trying to find self tanners, fake bakes, faux tan, tan in a can, or whatever you like to call them that appear natural on the skin and fade off evenly rather than rubbing off and leaving tell-tale signs of being totally fake. Even spray tans by technicians who have tons of positive "not orange" stories, leave me orange tinted. I purchased the Sun Labs Ultra Dark Tanning Lotion on a show special at the Women's Expo last year but it is available for purchase on their website, too. I am obsessed with the results I get from it! I will purchase again and again.

3. NARS Satin Lip Pencil in the color Rikugien- Price: $26 for full-size

This one is a pricey love BUT, luckily, it is part of a mini duo that also includes a Velvet Matte Lip Pencil is a gorgeous red called Cruella. You can snatch up this amazing duo for FREE as a special gift at Sephora during the month of your birthday! Best. Birthday. Freebie. EVER! Anyway, the Satin lip pencil in Rikugien is a very pretty, every day lip color that I plan to wear a lot while hanging out in the water this summer. It lasts on my lips for hours, keeps my lips smooth and soft without gathering or creasing. I definitely feel like it justifies the price point.

4. Covergirl Intensify Me! liquid liner in the color Intense Black- Price: $6.99 at Target

I am a huge fan of liquid liners and the amazing crisp, clean line I can achieve with them. I am always trying new ones. When I got the Intensify Me! liner, I was disappointed to discover that it wasn't a "liquid liner" in the traditional sense (liquid in a bottle that is applied with a thin, flexible brush) like I was used to. Rather, it is a pen-like tube with a fixed, rigid felt tip. The liner that comes out of it is less liquid and more ink, like what you would get from a Sharpie. I gave it a try and it took me a couple times to get the hang of application with this new style BUT once I did, I found myself reaching for it almost daily. I love that the liner comes out in an even and consistent manner which take some of the guess work out of how much pressure to apply to my eyelid. The color payout is a dark and nicely pigmented, inky black. I also love not having to re-dip a brush back into a bottle to continue.

5. Younique Beachfront bronzer in the color Malibu- Price: $32

This bronzer is from Younique, the company with the famous or infamous (whichever side you are on) 3D Fiber Lash Mascara. Younique stands behind products that are cruelty-free, natural and mineral based. The Beachfront Bronzer is actually a bronzer duo. One side is "matte" and the other side is shimmer. Really, one side is shimmer and the other side is less shimmer (no, this is not from me mixing them together. They were that way right out of the package.) This bronzer being a duo allows for more versatility by allowing you to customize your look by mixing the two or using one or the other separately. I tend to use the less shimmery side as part of my contour and the shimmery-er side to warm up my entire face. I have skin that is quite fair but I think this shade works great for me.

6. Real Techniques blush brush- Price: $8.99 at Ulta (often Buy one, get one 1/2 off)

This is my absolute favorite face brush, especially at the price point! It's a synthetic taklon brush with bristles that are hand-cut. Even better, Real Techniques brushes are cruelty-free. I use this blush brush everyday for my blush and bronzer. The bristles are very soft and medium in density making this the perfect brush for me. It also does tricks! These brushes can stand on end, all by themselves! Though I do not use this feature, I think it is pretty cool.

7. Elizabeth Mott It's So Big mascara- Price: $19.99

I tried this mascara for the first time when it came in one of my monthly Ipsy bags. I always love trying less-known makeup brands and at the time, this was the ONLY makeup item available from Elizabeth Mott, aside from their Lash Card. What I love about this mascara is its' ability to deliver a natural, but better, look to my lashes. This is NOT the mascara to use for super, over-the-top drama!
It gives me lashes that are voluminous and longer but allows me to build and layer without clumping. AND my lashes still feel soft to the touch, like real lashes, without flaking. This is one of my go-to daily favorites for my "no makeup-makeup" look and is the perfect summer mascara.
