Chevron Nails: How To (First Try)

I have recently fallen in love with the chevron stripe trend. I really like it for nails! I decided to give it a go and try it out on my own nails. Here is the inspiration I used (from Pinterest, of course).

These nails are shiny black and matte black which I also love. I was feeling a different idea though.

I started off painting two thin coats of a black, semi-sparkley polish on my nails. I used my favorite, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Nail Lacquer in "Midnight in NY".

I allowed my nails to dry COMPLETELY...
This is a HUGE step. Though time consuming, it is critical to avoiding an awful mess.

I, then, applied painters tape, that I pre-cut, to my nails to form the Chevron Stripes. Like I said, this was my first attempt and the tape looks a little funky and not as uniform as I wanted.

Then I added two thin coats of silver polish, allowing drying time between each coat. The polish I used was, again, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure. The color is "Pedal to The Metal".

After allowing my nails to dry, I removed the tape strips and applied a top coat to seal in the pretty design.

These nails were super fun and I cannot wait to try them again! Hopefully next time, they will look a little better.

  1. Pretty good for your first attempt! I would have totally messed it up! Me and nail polish do not get along. LOL
